India's indigenous Light Combat Aircraft Tejas will demonstrate its fire power in a combat exercise by Indian Air Force in February 2013 over Rajasthan's Pokhran range.
The exercise codenamed Iron Fist will see a pair of Tejas limited series production(LSP) fighters fly, drop bombs and perhaps fire weapons alongside IAF Su-30s, Mirage-2000s and MiG-21s fighters.
The Tejas will display its capabilities in the exercise, where its lethality, endurance and precision will be tested.
Tejas is likely to win its final operational clearance(FOC), following testing as part of the air exercise.
As of July, the LCA had undergone more than 1,941 test flights.
The Indian air force (IAF), has ordered 40 Tejas Mk-1. Out of the 40 aircraft, 20 would be under the IOC standards, with the rest under Final Operational Clearance standards.
IAF plans to induct six LCA squadrons over the next 10years.
The first two squadrons, comprising 40 aircraft, will have first-generation Mk. 1 fighters powered by GE F404 engine. The additional four squadrons would be more-powerful Tejas Mk. 2s powered by GE F414 engine.
