The US Air Force confirmed that a Lockheed Martin F-22 Raptor crashed at 15:30 local time on 15 November, as it was returning to Tyndall AFB, Florida.
The pilot ejected safely and there were no injuries on the ground.
The plane caught fire when it hit the ground, but firefighters quickly put out the blaze. The cause is under investigation.
The latest crash reduces the USAF inventory of F-22s to 182 aircrafts.
Raptor is the most advanced 5th generation stealth fighter operational in the world.
It is the fifth F-22 crash since Lockheed advanced past the prototype stage in the early 1990s.
The F-22 has the highest accident rate of any USAF fighter aircraft in service.
The US Air Force stopped flying the F-22 for five months in 2011 after some pilots reported hypoxia.
