Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) refuted the recent claims made by media, that it is planning a manned moon mission.
The move comes after top officials of Indian Air Force’s Institute of Aerospace Medicine (IAM) announced on December 27 in New Delhi that India was planning a manned mission to Moon, and that an MoU was recently signed between the IAF and ISRO for the joint project.
ISRO in a press release said the scope of Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed with IAM in 2009 was to carry out to basic research/studies on Human Physiological and Psychological requirements for Human Space Flight crew and augmenting/updating existing facilities at IAM to cater to ISRO's Human Space Flight Programme as a pre project Research & Development activity and said the scope of the MOU between ISRO and IAM does not envisage recruitment of crew for ISRO.
