Second prototype of Bombardier CSeries aircraft- Flight Test Vehicle 2 (FTV2) successfully completed its maiden flight on January 3, 2014, from Mirabel, Canada.
FTV2 flight was conducted under the command of Captain Andris ‘Andy’ Litavniks, Flight Test Pilot, Bombardier Flight Test Centre. Capt. Litavniks was assisted by his colleagues William ‘Muz’ Colquhoun and Ken Slaughter in the roles of First Officer and Flight Test Engineer, respectively.
The flight test lasted approximately 2.15 hours, during which the aircraft reached an altitude of 3,962 meters (13,000 feet) and an air speed of 333 km/h (180 knots).
A total of five CS100 flight test vehicles will conduct the flight test program.

Bombardier CSeries is a family of narrow-body, twin-engine, medium-range jet airliners, with two models, the 110-seat CS100, and the 135-seat CS300. CS300 is still in development phase.
Designed for the 100- 49-seat market, CSeries aircraft family combines advanced materials with leading-edge technologies.
Powered by twin Pratt & Whitney PurePower PW1500G engines, the CSeries family will offer a 15 per cent cash operating cost advantage and a 20 per cent fuel burn advantage. It has a range of 2,950 NM (5,463 km). The CSeries aircraft will be up to 12,000 lbs. (5,443 kg) lighter than other aircraft in the same seat category.
