The black box of the crashed Indian Air Force C-130J Super Hercules transport aircraft has been retrieved from the crash site and has been sent to US for decoding the data.

Air Force official said the black box has been damaged and to avoid any data loss while decoding, it is being to send to aircraft maker Lockheed Martin. The connectors of the Flight Data Recorder along with the card inside the Cockpit Voice Recorder (CVR) has been damaged.

The two C-130J Super Hercules planes left the airbase in Agra on a training mission, on Friday. The crashed plane was flying at low height, probably practising terrain hugging flight crucial for special operations. Intial conclusions suggest the plane banged onto a hillock.

The first aircraft which was flying higher, pulled up as it reached the hillock, but the second aircraft went on and banged on it.

C-130J is capable of performing paradrop, heavy drop, casuality evacuation and can also operate from short and semi prepared surfaces. IAF's C-130J fleet is specially configured for special operations.
