Malyasian Airways Flight MH 370 which went missing over the South China Sea is now presumed crashed. The airplane inroute to Beijing from Kuala Lumpur was expected arrive at Beijing at 6:30 am.

 The Boeing 777ER airliner lost contact with the Subang Traffic Control in Malaysia at 2:40 am today, within 2 hours of its 4 hour journey. The last known position of MH 370 before it disappeared off the radar was 065515 North (longitude) and 1033443 East (latitude). Malaysia Airlines had yet to confirm the crash.
 

Meanwhile, Philipines has also joined efforts to locate the missing jet. Philipines armed forces has pressed 3 naval ships and 1 aircraft to explore some areas of the West Philippine Sea and Palawan where the plane might have crashed. Malaysia and Vietnam is conducting a joint search and rescue operations. China has also sent two maritime rescue ships.

 Airplane maker Boeing said it is assembling a team to provide technical assistance to investigating authorities. The 12 year old aircraft registered 9M-MRO, was delivered new to Malaysia Airlines on 31 May 2002.

 The flight was carrying 239 passengers and crew – comprising 227 passengers (including 2 infants), 12 crew members. The passengers were of 14 different nationalities, including 152 people from China, 38 from Malaysia and 7 from Indonesia and 5 Indians.
