Swedish Saab and Swiss Pilatus has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to provide PC-21 trainer for the Swedish Air Force to replace its ageing Saab SK 60 trainers.
The MoU was signed On Friday 28 March, in Bern,Switzerland, by Pilatus CEO Markus Bucher and Jim Roche, Vice-President Government Aviation and Deputy CEO.
The MoU was a result of selection of the Saab Gripen E fighter by Switzerland.
SK 60 is the designation given by the Swedish Air Force for the Saab 105 trainer aircraft, which Saab developed in the early 1960s for the Swedish Air Force.
The Pilatus PC-21 is a single engined low wing advanced trainer with a stepped tandem cockpit with a turboprop engine. The Saab 105 is jet engine powered.
