Airbus Defense and Space delivered the first of the ten A400M airlifters ordered by the Turkish Air Force, after a delay of several months on Friday. The delivery makes Turkey, the second A400M operator after France.

The third production A400M was delivered from Airbus Defence and Space's A400M Final Assembly Line in Seville, Spain.The first two production aircrafts are operated by French Air Force.

The A400M, will be flown to Kayseri air base in central Turkey where it will initially be used for training. training. A400M will replace the, 40+ year old Dassault-Breguet C-160 Transall airlifter fleet with Turkish Air Force.

The A400 had its combat debut during the France's Mali Operations. A400M recently completed its aerial drop trials.

With a maximum payload of up to 37 tonnes, the A400M can fly distances up to 8700 km, at a cruising altitude up to 37,000 ft, and at a speed of up to Mach 0.72 with its four unique counter-rotating Europrop International (EPI) TP400 turboprop engines.
