UTC Aerospace Systems and Chinese AVIC Electromechanical Company (AVIC EM) inaugurated their 50-50 joint venture facility: Xi'an AVIC Hamilton Sundstrand Aviation Electric Co., Ltd. (AUAE) located within the Xi'an Hi-tech Industries Development Zone in China.
The joint venture will develop and manufacture electric power systems for the new C919 jetliner, the largest commercial airliner to be designed and built in China, by Commercial Aviation Corporation of China (COMAC).
The 6,500 sq m production facility in Xi'an will also cater to the international market. The first C919 components will be delivered in the third quarter of 2014.
Key products will include main and emergency power generation systems, intelligent power modules, power conversion and motor control, power distribution, and aircraft utilities management.
