The new generation Airbus A350 XWB airliner made its debut in US skies, with its arrival at McKinley Climatic Lab at Eglin Air Force base in northwest Florida, for further extreme weather trials.
Various systems and cabin installations of the MSN 2 prototype will be subjected to the extreme hot and cold temperatures. A350 prototypes has already completed trial in Northern Canada, Bolivia and Middle East.
The four flight test A350 XWB prototypes have accumulated around 1,600 flight test hours in more than 350 flights, of the 2500 hour flight test program. The certification is anticipated in the third quarter of 2014 with entry into service in the fourth quarter of this year with Qatar Airways as launch customer.
