 Ukrainian ANTONOV AN−70 widebody medium military STOL transport plane have passed state joined tests and started long range flights.
One route flown was: Kyiv – Odesa – Kharkiv – Lviv – Ivano−Frankivsk – Kyiv with a duration of 8 hours and 8 minutes.

During the flight the AN−70 crossed thunderheads many times in which the operation of radar on detection and recognition of dangerous airborne moisture targets were successfully carried out.

Besides, the AN−70 successfully passed test in natural icing conditions. All the systems were operating in standard mode. During the flight, temperature, vibration and noise at the crew member work places and cargo compartment were recorded to be within the limits.

The short takeoff and landing AN-70 can perform a 20 ton payload transport mission to a range of 3000 km from unpaved airfield of just 600-800 m length.

It is powered by four D-27 propfan engines with SV-27 counter-rotating propfans with a 20-30% fuel economy.

The built-in aerial delivery system ensures autonomous loading and unloading of cargoes and their air dropping.

The onboard loading equipment consists of four overhead rail electric motor hoists and two onboard electric winches.
