Australian AGM-158A Joint Air-to-Surface Stand-Off Missile (JASSM) fleet has achieved Final Operational Clearance (FOC).

The Lockheed Martin built precision standoff missile can attack high-value, heavily defended targets such as hardened bunkers, radar and communications sites from standoff distance of more than 300 km.

The semi-stealthy JASSM weighs 2,000 pounds (910 kg) with a 1000-pound penetrator/blast fragmentation conventional warhead.
Australian government announced the selection of the JASSM to equip the Royal Australian Air Force's F/A-18 Hornet fighters in 2006.

The Initial Operational Capability (IOC) for JASSM was declared in 2011, following successful test firings at the Woomera Test Range in South Australia.
It is powered by a Teledyne CAE J402-CA-100 turbojet engine producing a thrust of 3.0 kN.

The JASSM is currently carried by a wide range of aircrafts including the F-15E, F-16, F/A-18, F-35 fighters and B-1B, B-2 and B-52 heavy bombers.
