Two US Air Force B-2 Spirit strategic stealth bombers were deployed to the U.S. European Command area of operations and arrived at RAF Fairford, England on June 8.
During this short-term deployment, the multi-role heavy bombers will conduct training flights in the USEUCOM area of operations and familiarise with the airbases and operations in the region and increase interoperability.

The B-2 crew also included RAF Flight Lieutenant Ian Hart who has been training with the 13th Bomb Squadron at Whiteman Air Force Base, Missouri, since 2012, and is a fully mission-qualified B-2 instructor pilot.

Hart is the fourth RAF pilot to to fly the B-2 and had flew the RAF GR4 Tornado for more than 10 years before he trained in the B-2.

The forward-deployed B-2s are assigned to 509th Bomb Wing, Whiteman Air Force Base, Missouri.

The B-2 stealth bomber can penetrate enemy's most sophisticated defenses and attack heavily defended targets.

Earlier, three USAF B-52 strategic bombers were deployed to RAF Fairford for training.
