The fifth prototype of Sukhoi T-50 stealth fighter was damaged due to a inflight fire, above its right engine air intake on June 10.

The incident occurred when the T-50 flight test prototype was landing at M.M. Gromov Flight Research Institute in Zhukovsky after completing a regular flight test.

A smoke above the right air intake preceded the fire which was quickly extinguished according to a Sukhoi press release.

Sukhoi said the plane will be repaired and put back to flight test soon, and will not affect its flight test program.

Sukhoi has set up a commission that will investigate the causes of the accident.

The fifth prototype is the latest aircraft to join the T-50 flight test fleet, which made its maiden flight on Oct 2013.
