Mitsubishi received the first PurePower® PW1200G engines to power the Mitsubishi Regional Jet (MRJ) flight test prototypes from Pratt & Whitney's Mirabel Aerospace Centre in Mirabel, Quebec, Canada.

PW1200G engine, part of Pratt & Whitney’s PurePower PW1000G series, is exclusively designed to power MRJ.

P&W PurePower engines features a unique Geared Turbofan™ technology, allows engine’s low-pressure compressor and turbine to operate at higher speeds for peak efficiency, while the engine fan operates at slower speeds for both optimum efficiency and significantly less noise using an intermediate planetary gear system, increasing engine efficiency and delivering significantly lower fuel consumption, emissions and noise.

Maiden flight of MRJ is now scheduled to second quarter of 2015, after several delays.

MRJ flight test fleet will consist of seven aircraft, five for flight tests and two for static strength and fatigue tests.
The static strength test will begin this summer, with the prototype transfered to test station recently.
