A Spanish Air Force Eurofighter Typhoon fighter jet operated by 11th Wing Air Base crashed on Monday on approach to Morón airbase, Sevilla.

The fatal crash resulted in death of the pilot, Captain Fernando Lluna Carrascosa, who was unable to eject. The cause of crash is unknown.

The 30 year old Captain Lluna, a native of Madrid, has more than 600 flight hours on Eurofighter.

This is the second crash involving Eurofighter operating from Morón air base, after a Royal Saudi Air Force pilot was killed in a crash while training in August 2010, with his Spanish co pilot injured.
Spain currently operates 34 single seat Typhoons and 11 Typhoon two seat trainers. Spain has 73 Eurofighters on order, of which three crashed. Incidentally all the Typhoons so far crashed were Spanish operated.
