Airbus's newly launched A330neo (new engine option) widebody jetliner has won commitments for 121 aircraft at the biennial Farnborough Airshow, UK.

The re-engined and improved version of Airbus A330 aircraft was formally launched at the 2014 Farnborough Airshow.

These bookings were won by the two versions: the A330-800neo, which has the same fuselage length as Airbus current A330-200ceo (current engine option); and the A330-900neo, which uses the A330-300ceo’s fuselage length.
Major commitments for A330neo were received from AirAsia X, the long-haul affiliate of Asia’s largest low-cost airline, for 50 aircraft. First European airline to place order was Russia’s Transaero Airlines, for 12 A330neos. An unnamed Asian customer signed for four A330neos.
In addition, three aircraft lessors: Air Lease Corporation, Avolon and CIT Group, has committed to acquiring a combined total of 55.

The A330neo will boast a 14% better fuel efficiency per seat and will be powered the new generation Rolls-Royce Trent 7000 turbofan engines.
