More than four months after the mysterious crash of Flight MH370, another Malaysian flight MH17 from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur has been shot down over Eastern Ukraine, near Russian border.
Malaysia Airlines said it lost contact at 1415 GMT/UTC on Thursday, 17 July, with the flight MH17.
Resembling the Flight MH370 crash, the aircraft involved was also a Boeing 777, carrying 280 passengers and 15 crew members.
The last point of contact was 30 km from the Tamak waypoint, some 50 km from the border between the Ukraine and Russia.
The aircraft left Amsterdam at 12.15 pm local time and was due to arrive at Kuala Lumpur at 6.10 am local time tomorrow.
Conflicting reports have emerged about the cause of crash including an missile from Buk anti aircraft air defense system shooting it down and another version says an Sukhoi Su-25 fighter-bomber shot it down with a air to air missile.
The aircraft was reportedly flying at an altitude of about 10,000 m due to which the debris was spread over a radius of 15 kms.
The plane apparently crashed in a region where Ukrainian forces and pro-Russian rebels are fighting each other. Most Western airlines had already stopped flying through the route due to the hostile situation down.
