Aircraft leasing company Macquarie AirFinance has signed a firm purchase agreement for 40 Bombardier CSeries CS300 jetliners, with an options for additional 10 aircrafts.
Delivery of the aircraft will be on a phased basis from 2017 to 2019. The CS300s will be leased for worldwide operations.
Established in 2006, Macquarie AirFinance, currently owns or manages 136 jet aircraft leased to 73 operators in 43 countries across six continents.
The order brings the total orders and commitments to 563 CSeries, which include firm orders for 243 CSeries.
The CS300 will seat 150 passengers with widebody comfort in a single-aisle aircraft, according to Bombardier. It will be also powered by new Pratt & Whitney PurePower® PW1500G Geared Turbofan Engine, which also powers CS100. An un contained engine failure in July, had grounded the CS100 test fleet, which which resumed flying this month after a fix was incorporated. The aircraft boasts 15 per cent cash operating costs advantage and 20 per cent fuel burn advantage.
