Sukhoi Su-35S, the latest Russian state-of-the-art jet fighter has arrived in Zhuhai, Guangdong Province, China, for the China International Aviation and Aerospace Exhibition (Airshow Сhina 2014).

Airshow China is held every other year starting from 1996. The biannual aviation and aerospace trade show is held in Zhuhai, in the southern Chinese Province of Guangdong. More than 600 companies from 35 countries participate in this year’s Airshow China. Exhibitors have taken their spots in pavilions with a total combined area of 21,000 square meters. Airshow China attracts more than 300,000 visitors.

The airshow will take place on November 11 through 16, with Sukhoi Su-35S scheduled to do an aerobatics demonstration. Rosoboronexport Deputy CEO Sergey Ladygin said earlier this year, at the Euronaval 2014 trade show in the Parisian suburb of Le Bourget that the contract to deliver a batch of Sukhoi Su-35’s to China is currently being negotiated.

Russia is planning to deliver 24 Sukhoi Su-35S’s to China in the first stage. Beijing intends to purchase aircraft specially adapted to Chinese Air Force requirements rather than production Su-35’s.
The Sukhoi Su-35S carries a 30mm cannon, has 12 hard points and can detect targets at more than 400 kilometers, while its radar can track up to 30 targets simultaneously. The fighter has range in excess of 3,500 kilometers without refueling. The world’s most powerful Fourth-Generation fighter’s standout features include new engines, avionics and radar.

The Sukhoi Su-35S is an upgrade of the Su-27 fighter jet. The new fighter meets all the benchmark requirements for a Fifth-Generation fighter jet, except for stealth technology and APAR (active phased array radar), also known as AESA (active electronically scanned array).

The aircraft is powered by new fifth-generation high-thrust engines developed by NPO Saturn, a UEC subsidiary, and known as 117S. Sukhoi Su-35S carries a conceptually new airborne electronics system: the Irbis phased-array radar control system, which is capable of detecting and tracking simultaneously up to four ground targets or up to 30 aerial targets, as well as engaging up to 8 airborne targets at the same time.
