Sukhoi Civil Aircraft Company (SCAC)received a Supplemental Type Certificate, for Sukhoi Superjet 100 airliner to perform reduced thrust takeoffs.

Reduced thrust takeoffs allow lower engine speed and temperature which inturn reduce engine load and extend engine lifetime, thus minimizing aircraft maintenance cost.

SSJ can use Reduced thrust takeoff mode on airports with runway exceeding 2000 meters in length.

The flight tests were conducted on prototype 95003, in Ramenskoe aerodrome, in Zhukovsky, near Moscow. During the tests, 22 flights with different levels of thrust were performed. The prototype was part of the original SSJ developmental flight test fleet.

Improvements to SuperJet's flight envelope has been ongoing, in early 2014 the Aviation Register of Interstate Aviation Committee (IAC AR) has confirmed the possibility of SSJ100 aircraft to perform autoland under CAT IIIa. IAC AR has also issued Supplemental Type Certificate for expansion of operating conditions regarding performance of flights under RNAV1 and P-RNAV, crosswind limitation on runways with low Mu-factor, as well as regarding aircraft operation on narrow 30-meter-wide runways.
