Bombardier today announced that the first stretched CS300 aircraft will make its inaugural flight in early 2015 following the completion of functional test procedures (FTPs) and required engine and taxi runs in Mirabel, Québec.

Over the next weeks, the first CS300 prototype aircraft will be outfitted with the latest software rolls, taking it to the most current production standards.

The CS300’s entry-into-service (EIS) is expected to occur approximately six months after the CS100 aircraft’s EIS, currently slated for second half of 2015.

With the addition of the second overwing emergency exit door (OWEED), the CS300 in its high density configuration can seat upto 160 passengers.

The CSeries aircraft’s flight deck includes large LCD displays, dual FMS (Flight Management System) with optimized control and display functions and RNP0.1 capability, dual CCD (Cursor Control Devices), datalink, Cat IIIa autoland and side stick controls as baseline.

Aluminium fuselage, composite emphanage, wing, nacelle and rear fuselage that deliver more than 2000 lb. weight savings, along with Pratt & Whitney PurePower® PW1500G geared turbofan engines contribute to the CSeries’s 20 per cent fuel burn advantage.

The Cseries has firm order backlog for 243 aircraft, including 180 CS300s and 63 CS100s.
