Airbus Defence and Space has formally delivered the first Airbus A400M military transport ordered by Germany.

The Bundeswehr accepted the aircraft at the A400M Final Assembly Line in Seville, Spain on 18 December.

A total of nine aircraft have now been delivered and the aircraft is in service with four nations including UK, France and Turkey. Germany has ordered 53 A400Ms and will replace the C-160 Transall airlifter.

AD&S has signed two in-service support contracts with Germany on 12 December. Information Technology and In-Service Support (BAAINBw) consists of a System Support Contract and a Material Management Contract. Both contracts run for four years until December 2018.

The System Support Contract provides technical support services such as overhaul and maintenance as well as a technical field representative team at Wunstorf where the A400M fleet will be based.

The Material Management Contract covers the supply chain of spare parts including the operation of a local warehouse and re-ordering of spares.
