US State Department has approved Foreign Military Sale of CH-47D Chinook helicopters to Greece, along with associated equipment, parts and logistical support for an estimated cost of $150 million.

The deal is for sale of 10 Boeing CH-47D Model Chinook Helicopters, along with 23 T55-GA-714A engines (20 installed and, 3 spares), 12 AN/AAR-57 Common Missile Warning System (10 installed and 2 spares) and a host of support electronic accessories, support, training and spares.

There is no principal contractor for the deals, as the systems will be supplied from U.S. Army surplus stock.

The first CH-47Ds were delivered in 1982 and were produced until 1994. Since its introduction in 1962, 1,179 Chinooks have been built.
The latest generation is the CH-47F model, which features several major upgrades to reduce maintenance, digitized flight controls, and is powered by two 4,733 hp Honeywell engines.
