This year, Russian Sukhoi T-50 (PAK FA) stealth fighter will be integrated with its cannon and undergo flight testing for safe operation.

The Instrument Design Bureau, part of Russian Corp, Rostec developed the new 9A1-4071K modernized rapid-aircraft cannon.

The cannon which can exhaust its entire ammunition in any mode, was earlier flight tested successfully onboard a Su-27SM fighter.
The 30mm calibre cannon is internally mounted near the right wing leading edge vortex controller (LEVCON) root of T-50.

The cannon can fire rounds at a rate of 1500-1800 rounds/min and achieve a muzzle velocity of around 900 m/s.

Weighing around 50kg, the gun has a maximum effective range of 200-800 m against aerial targets and 1200-1800 m against ground targets.

In combination with a laser rangefinder/targeting system, it is reported to be extremely accurate and destructive.
