European engine consortium Eurojet has signed the sixth Operational Phase contract with the NATO Eurofighter & Tornado Management Agency (NETMA) to provide continued EJ200 engine support over the next 3 years.

The contract, signed in Munich, between Air Vice Marshal Graham Farnell OBE, General Manager of NETMA, and Clemens Linden, Managing Director of EUROJET Turbo GmbH, covers engine support for the four core nations of the Eurofighter Typhoon Programme, the UK, Germany, Spain and Italy.

The work will be performed in-country by the four partner companies of the EUROJET consortium, Rolls-Royce, MTU Aero Engines, ITP and Avio Aero, respectively, for their own nation’s fleet.

Since delivery of the first production engine in 2003, well over a thousand EJ200 production engines have been delivered to the fleets of six nations and over 500,000 engine flying hours have been achieved.

The Eurofighter Typhoon is powered by two Eurojet EJ200 engines with a thrust 90KN each, allowing Mach 2 speed.
