Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) and India's Alpha Design Technologies have signed a teaming agreement for the production and marketing of mini-Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) in India, ahead of Aero India air show, to be held in Bangalore, India, from February 18-22.
The joint venture will market IAI's Bird-Eye 400 and Bird-Eye 650 mini UAS as well as other mini-UASs to potential customers including security agencies and all defense organizations including police forces, coastguard and Border Security Forces (BSF).
Production of the systems will take place in India, while the marketing will be a joint effort of the two companies. Integration of additional applications and subsystems will be performed by Alpha in India with IAI's support.
The Bird-Eye system is a man-portable UAS with fast field deployment by a team of two. It features real-time video camera payload for obstacle-free maximal coverage of high resolution day or night imagery.
The electric motor powered UAS has a Bungee or mini-launcher take-off and is capable of fully automated flight including takeoff and landing.
IAI's stall at Aero India will display models of IAI's TECSAR and OPSAT spy satellites, along with models of IAI's mini-UAS such as Panther and Bird-Eye. IAI's Heron family of UAS will be displayed, as well as the M-19 HD multi-sensor payload, the HAROP loitering munitions system.
