An Apache attack helicopter belonging to Saudi Arabian Land Forces, crashed after being shot down, in the border region with Saudi and Yemen, while fighting against Houthi rebels on Friday.

The two pilots onboard the helicopter, Major pilot Ali bin Mohammed Al-Qarni and Captain pilot Nasser bin Mohammed Al Harthy died following the crash.

Saudi acknowledged the helicopter crashed in the Jizan region, the southern boundary of Saudi Arabia with Yemen, on Saturday.

Picture (above) shows, the pilots have attempted in flight ejection, with the main rotor blades blown away for safe ejection from the helicopter.

The Saudi-led Arab coalition has been bombing Yemen, to defeat the Iranian-backed Shiite rebels since March 2015.

The houthi rebels posed stiff opposition to the joint Arab coalition attacks and have inflicted massive casualties on the Saudi side.
