Taiwan unveiled a new indigenous long endurance unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) prototype at the biennial Taipei Aerospace & Defense Technology Exhibition (TADTE).
The design of the new Medium Altitude Long Endurance (MALE), UAV closely resembles the U.S. General Atomics MQ-9 Reaper UAV.
Developed by National Chung-Shan Institute of Science and Technology (NCSIST), Taiwan’s top defense research institute, the UAV can carry out civilian/military intelligence gathering, surveillance, reconnaissance, environmental research and coastal patrol operations.
It is capable of performing automatic takeoff and landing, automatic navigation and real-time video transmission.
The specifications of the multi payload, day and night mission capable UAV, has not been divulged.
