German Chancellor Angela Merkel was forced fly onboard a military transport aircraft, after her Official aircraft was grounded following technical faults, on her trip to India.

The Chancellor and her entourage flew onboard a German Air Force Airbus A310 called "Kurt Schumacher", which have the modest features of a military troop transport aircraft. The A310 Multi Role Tranker Transport (MRTT) aircraft, can dub either as a aerial refuelling aircraft or a transport aircraft.

The German Chancellor's specially equipped Airbus A340-313 named "Konrad Adenauer" experienced an unspecified technical glitch shortly before take off the Berlin.

The aircraft is capable of flying 8400 miles non stop carrying 143 passengers.

Merkel is on a three day visit to India, aimed to boost the bilateral trade for defense, technology and automobiles.
