Iran has test fired a new ballistic missile featuring a guidance and control system on Sunday according to Iranian Defense Minister Brigadier General Hossein Dehqan.
The missile dubbed Emad, features a maneuverable warhead that improve strike precision, reducing the circular error probability to around 500 m.
Emad is said to be an improved variant of the liquid fueled Shahab-3 ballistic missile which have a 1700 km range and accuracy of 2000 m.
Iran is improving accuracy of its ballistic missiles to bolster its deterrence capabilities, as present missiles have poor accuracy to be strategically effective.
In August, Iran unveiled a improved range short range ballistic missile, Fateh 313, which also featured improved accuracy.
