Saab unveiled a new AESA (active electronically scanned array) radar for fighter jets, at the ADEX 2015 show in Seoul, South Korea.
The yet to be named radar has a scalable design, suitable for new and emerging fighter designs, and will also be available as mid-life update for other aircraft.
Saab says the new AESA radar will be offered for the Korean KF-X fighter program, which has been hit by U.S. technology denial.
The radar will incorporate technologies developed by Saab for the PS-05/A pulse doppler radar, fitted on the Saab Gripen C/D fighters.
The latest Mk4 variant of the PS-O5/A was revealed in April 2014, sporting improved detection range and performance.
The fifth generation AESA radars improves detection range and stealth of a aircraft. These radars spread their signals across a band of frequencies, making them difficult to detect over background noise.
