Turkey has shot down a Russian unmanned aerial vehicle near Syrian border that intruded into its airspace.

Turkish Air Force F-16 fighter jets shot down the small Orlan-10 UAV operated by Russian Air Force for surveillance missions.

The UAV could have flown from the Hmeymim airbase in Latakia, Syria, close to the Turkish border, where Russia has deployed its fighter jets, to attack the ISIS.

The gasoline powered UAV has an endurance of over 10 hours and can carry a payload of 6 kg. The type was also shot down in Ukraine.
