An U.S. Air Force MQ-1 Predator Remotely Piloted Aircraft crashed in Southern Turkey at approximately 9:36 p.m. local time on Oct. 19, 2015.
The aircraft experienced mechanical failure after conducting a mission in support of Operation Inherent Resolve against the ISIS. The Air Force maintained positive control and brought the aircraft down in an unpopulated area.
An investigation is underway to determine the specific cause of the crash.
On last Saturday, another USAF Predator came down in Iraq, which was armed with Hellfire missiles.
The MQ-1 Predator, was the first armed drone to enter U.S. military service which made its first flight in 1994. More than 50 percent of the type entered service has since then crashed. The production of the type ended in 2011, and is being replace by the more capable MQ-9 Reaper.
