A SpiceJet Bombardier Q400 passenger jet veered off the runway after landing at the Dumna airport in Jabalpur, India on Friday night.

The aircraft skidded off the runway to left after the pilot was forced to apply hard braking as a herd of wild boars strayed into the runway.

The aircraft came to rest on ground with its left main landing gear and nose landing gear failed.

SpiceJet said the skilful and experienced Captain Amartya Basu, who has more than 10,000 hours of flying experience, averted a major disaster by steering the aircraft towards the left of the runway to moderate the impact of the event.

The SpiceJet Q400 was operating a weekly Mumbai to Jabalpur flight SG 2458. All 49 passengers and 4 crew members were safe.
