GKN Aerospace has won a contract with Chinese AVIC Commercial Aircraft Engine Co, Ltd. (ACAE) to supply low pressure turbine (LPT) shaf...
The LPT shafts will be delivered within twelve months, for use in the CJ1000 engine test and development programme. They will be manufactured at the GKN Aerospace facility in Norway which is a centre of excellence for engine shaft manufacture.
The CJ-1000 will feature performance similar to the new generation Western CFM LEAP-1C high bypass turbofan engine which has a thrust range of 27,980 – 30,000 pounds.
The engine will eventually replace the LEAP-1C powerplant selected for COMAC C919 150 seat passenger airplane.
Germany MTU Aero Engines and Italian Avio will supply the low pressure turbine and combustor respectively for the engine.
The GKN Aerospace engine systems business is a market-leader in the supply of aero-engine static and rotating structures and has delivered more than 10,000 LPT cases to the major prime manufacturers of commercial and military aero-engines worldwide.
