An Douglas A-4 Skyhawk fighter jet operated by Draken Intl as an adversary aircraft for U.S. Air Force crashed while a training mission.

The aircraft crashed on a public land at approximately 7:40 am this morning, while supporting USAF's 57th Wing operations, adjacent to the Nellis Air Force Base in Nevada.

The pilot survived the crash and is receiving treatment for minor injuries.

The aircraft is contracted by USAF to act as an adversary aircraft to better train Air Force pilot with realistic enemy aircraft.

Draken Intl operated 11 of these refurbished ex-Royal New Zealand Air Force single and twin seat variants suited for all Air-to-Air, Air-to-Ground, threat simulation missions before crash.

The fleet were overhauled in 2013 and had received extensive upgrade in the early 1990s to a standard similar to the F-16 Mid-Life-Update.
