An Emirates Airline flight EK521 crashed while attempting landing at Dubai International Airport today, at approximately 12:45 local time.

The Boeing 777-300 was flying from Thiruvananthapuram, India, carrying 282 passengers and 18 crew. All passengers and crew were evacuated safely due to the quick response of the teams at Emirates and Dubai International Airport.

Air traffic control communications indicate the aircraft was attempting a go around after a missed approach.

The aircraft which was cleared to land on runway 12L, slammed into the runway, without deploying the landing gear and slid on belly and engines for some seconds. Later the right engine got separated from the wing, before coming to rest.

With the emergency slides deployed, the passengers were evacuated swiftly within a minute. The crew members were the last to leave the aircraft, exhibiting commendable professionalism.

The aircraft later caught fire and exploded sending a huge debris in to air.

The aircraft with registration A6-EMW powered by two Rolls-Royce Trent 800 engines and was delivered to Emirates in March 2003.
