Pilatus premiered its new PC-24 business jet at this year's NBAA's Business Aviation Convention & Exhibition (NBAA-BACE) in Orlando.
The second PC-24 prototype- "P02" momentarily paused its flight test program to join the outdoor display at Orlando Executive Airport on Wednesday, November 2nd.
The aircraft has been based in the USA in recent months where it has undergone hot and cold weather trials plus tests on the avionics and autopilot.
Since maiden flight of "P01" in May 2015, the two PC-24 prototypes have completed a combined total of over 1000 hours and almost 600 flights.
Pilatus claims the Super Versatile jet is performing better than expected and updated performance data will be published at 2017 European Business Aviation Convention & Exhibition (EBACE) in Geneva.
To improve training and customer support Pilatus is developing a PC-24 full-motion level D simulator, in partnership with FlightSafety International and setting up worldwide PC-24 support network.
The third and final PC-24 prototype – the first series aircraft – will join the test flight program beginning of 2017.
Certification is planned for the 3rd quarter of 2017, followed by delivery to launch customer Planesense, provider of fractional ownership programs in the USA.
Powered by two Williams International FJ44-4A, the PC-24 is designed for a Max altitude of 45,000 ft (13,716 m). With six passengers it can fly 1,800 nm or 3,330 km.
The PC-24 is a offroading business jet with capability to take off even from unpaved runways. Max take off weight is 17,650 lbs (8,005 kg) with a max payload capacity of 2,500 lbs (1135 kg).
