A Pakistan Army Aviation SA330 Puma helicopter deployed as a part of the UN peace keeping mission in the Democratic Republic of Congo has crashed on April 12, 2017.

The helicopter with registration 'UN809' operating on behalf of United Nations Organization Stabilization Mission in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (MONUSCO) was substantially damaged when it crashed on landing at Kavumu, DRC.

The video of the incident shows the helicopter slamming into the ground while hovering, and coming to rest on its right side.

Pakistan had deployed three Puma helicopters to Congo in 2012.

The 30 aircraft fleet now aged, were acquired by Army Aviation from France in 1978. They are suited for roles like transportation of army personal, food and equipments.
