South Korean Air Force (ROKAF) has concluded pilot error the cause for Feb 6 incident involving Black Eagles aerobatic team's T-50B aircraft during the 2018 Singapore Air Show.

While taking off from the Changi Intl airport on the opening day for aerial demonstration, the T-50B skidded off the runway, flipped upside down and caught fire.

The investigation found the pilot prematurely disengaged the nose wheel steering (NSW) during take off, when the nose wheel was not perfectly aligned with the aircraft.

This caused the aircraft to lean right and skid off the runway.

In accordance with established emergency procedures, the correct action was to abort the take off, but the pilot attempted to bring the aircraft under control, which failed.

The Air Force said, there was no defect with the TAI T-50 aircraft, but will work with the manufacturer to prevent such incidents in future.

The accident left the pilot with minor injury and resulted in cancelling Black Eagles' scheduled performances at the biennial air show.
