An Indian Air Force Mi-17V5 helicopter overturned while landing at a Himalayan mountain valley near the Kedarnath in the northern state of Uttarakhand on Tuesday morning, local time.
The helicopter carrying construction materials to the remote area, was attempting to land at a helipad on the side of the valley.
A footage of the landing apparently shows the helicopter overshooting the helipad and toppling after landing on a uneven surface.
The two crew members and six passengers on board escaped with minor injuries.
The rather new helicopter sustained severe damages and is possibly a write off.
The tail boom, tail rotor, main rotor blades, transmission, nose and the port side under belly, fixed landing gear, auxiliary fuel tank have been visibly damaged.
The improved Mi-17V5 started entering Indian Air Force service from 2012. A total of 151 units were delivered by 2016.
