The first prototype of the Embraer KC-390 military airlifter (PT-ZNF) was involved in a runway excursion incident during ground tests at the Embraer´s Gavião Peixoto facility on May 5.

Embraer said the crew deplaned safely and without injury. The aircraft has sustained substantial damage to its undercarriage and underbelly fuselage.

Gaviao Peixoto is Embraer's military aircraft production and flight test center with a long 5 km runway.

This is the second incident involving the KC-390 and the first prototype. The aircraft returned to flight testing only two months ago, following a repair after losing control of the aircraft during a slow speed stall test on October 12, 2017.
