Turkey's Baykar Defense unveiled plans to develop a supersonic speed capable stealth drone development program.
Dubbed the MIUS(Unmanned Combat Aerial Vehicle), the UAV features a clipped delta fixed wing and a canard wing in the forward fuselage, with a canted V-tail that help to reduce radar cross section.
Powered by a single turbofan engine, the MIUS is designed to operate from the deck of Turkish Anadolu-class amphibious assault ships. It will be capable of taking off on its own power without the need for a catapult assist.
Onboard the ship, the Bayraktar TB3 UAV and MIUS will be able to operate in coordination for Safe flight operations.
With a maximum payload capacity of 1500 kg, the MIUS UAV will have internal weapon bays to carry weapons to reduce radar cross section. It will also have external under wing pylons for weapons for missions requiring low stealth.
First flight of the type is targeted for 2023.
