The first prototype of Bombardier Learjet 85 FTV1 business jet has obtained the flight test permit from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). The prototype flight test vehicle FTV1 has successfully completed preliminary testings- engine run testing and low-speed taxi trials.

The program team will conduct the final testing in preparation for first flight, including further engine runs and high-speed taxi tests. The Learjet 85 will be the biggest aircraft in the Learjet family of executive jets and also Learjet's first composite structure business jet.

Bombardier began the development program in 2007. The Learjet 85 aircraft targets a high-speed cruise of Mach 0.82 and a transcontinental range of approximately 5,556 km.
