U.S. Air Force Life Cycle Management Center has awarded Lockheed Martin a $9 million foreign military sales(FMS) contract to support South Korea’s Peace Krypton reconnaissance aircraft system.

The system consists a Hawker 800 mid-size twin-engined business jet specially fitted for tactical reconnaissance, surveillance and SIGINT(SIGnals INTelligence) operations and ground stations that process data from the aircraft..

The contract involves maintenance of the aircraft fleet, which includes spare and repair parts, as well as providing support and test equipment for both the aircraft and its fixed and mobile ground stations.

Lockheed Martin will also provide software development and software upgrades to modernize the reconnaissance system.

Raytheon delivered 8 of these specially-equipped aircrafts to South Korea in 2000. It uses an onboard Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) system to processes and transmits FTI (Fixed Target Imagery) and MTI (Moving Target Indicator) data collected from day/night/all-weather operation to ground stations.
