The redesigned third prototype of Chinese J-20 stealth fighter completed its maiden flight on Saturday with the serial no 2011. The redesign has improved J-20's stealth characteristics and maneuverability.

Some of the major changes include:
- A new light grey paint scheme like the US Air Force F-22 Raptor, probably with better radar-absorbing abilities
- Diverterless supersonic engine air inlet.
- Electro-optical distributed aperture system.
- Electro-optical targeting system,
- Axisymmetric Vectoring Exhaust Nozzle(AVEN) engine nozzle
- Fire-control array radar system.
- Redesigned nose section and radome inspired from F-35 stealth fighter.
- Redesigned landing gear bay doors with saw tooth design.
- New photoelectric detection system below nose.
- Cut on all moving vertical stabilizer tip.
