Third J-20 Prototype 2011

The redesigned third prototype of Chinese J-20 stealth fighter completed its maiden flight on Saturday with the serial no 2011. The redesign has improved J-20's stealth characteristics and maneuverability.

First and Third Prototypes for comparision
Some of the major changes include:
  • A new light grey paint scheme like the US Air Force F-22 Raptor, probably with better radar-absorbing abilities 
  • Diverterless supersonic engine air inlet.
  •  Electro-optical distributed aperture system.
  •  Electro-optical targeting system, 
  • Axisymmetric Vectoring Exhaust Nozzle(AVEN) engine nozzle 
  • Fire-control array radar system. 
  • Redesigned nose section and radome inspired from F-35 stealth fighter.
  • Redesigned landing gear bay doors with saw tooth design. 
  • New photoelectric detection system below nose.
  • Cut on all moving vertical stabilizer tip.
