Airbus Defence and Space has signed a cooperation agreement with Snecma to use Snecma’s PPS®5000 electric propulsion engine in Airbus’s Eurostar telecommunication satellites, for positioning manoeuvres.

Under the terms of the agreement, aerospace engine manufacturer Snecma will develop and qualify the new PPS®5000 plasma propulsion engine for its use onboard the Eurostar E3000 satellite platform. Airbus will make the necessary design platform to house the new engine.
Snecma's electric propulsion systems is based on plasma thrusters for the propulsion and orbital control of satellites and spacecrafts.

Snecma also develops, integrates, tests and markets electric propulsion systems based on plasma thrusters for the propulsion and orbital control of satellites and space probes.
