Airbus is pitching Tiger HAD to Poland’s emerging requirement for around 32 attack helicopters to replace its ageing Mil Mi-24s operated by the Polish land forces.
The EC725 is offered to the Poland's tri service requirement for 70 multi-role helicopters.
During the expo, French Army Aviation who supplied the helicopters, provided its feedback from operations in Mali and Afghanistan.
“The two aircraft were efficient and complementary in Afghanistan and Mali. They are perfectly adapted to the modern and asymmetric wars we face today,” explained General Olivier de la Motte, Head of French Army Aviation.
The EC725 Caracal long-range tactical transport helicopter is suited to perform wide range of missions including special operations, combat search and rescue, tactical transport and medical evacuation.
The twin-engined helo can carry up to 29 seated troops along with two crew, depending on configuration.
The twin-engined Tiger is already operated by France, Germany and Spain, along with Australia. The Tiger is capable of undertaking a wide range of combat missions, including armed reconnaissance and surveillance, anti-tank and close air support, escort and protection of friendly assets; and can operate during day or night in all-weather conditions.
Other contestants in the multi role helicopter deal include the AgustaWestland AW149 and Sikorsky S-70i Black Hawk, all of which were on display at MSPO.
