Rockwell Collins has delivered the third incremental Pro Line Fusion flight test software for the Embraer KC-390 airlifter, featuring increased maturity and full functionality in support of the flight test campaign.
The improved software will allow Embraer to begin taking certification credit from the first of the test campaign.
The new generation Brazilian military airlifter made its 90 minute maiden flight on Feb 3.
Rockwell Collins has also started technology transfer to build display and control panel for the KC-390 in Brazil with a new partner – Jabil do Brasil. Jabil is currently developing test solutions in its U.S. facilities that will transfer to Brazil in 2016 to support the production phase of the program.
The KC-390 program marks the first military application of Rockwell Collins’ Pro Line Fusion integrated avionics system, which entered the business jet segment in 2012. It also represents the highest content that Rockwell Collins has on an Embraer military aircraft.
The advanced technologies of Pro Line Fusion include the largest format displays available, enhanced graphic capabilities and available synthetic vision, providing KC-390 pilots with the highest levels of situational awareness while reducing their workload to ensure mission success.
Standard features on the KC-390 flight deck include: five high-resolution 15-inch diagonal Liquid Crystal Displays (LCD), Integrated Flight Information Systems (IFIS) with electronic charts and enhanced maps, advanced Flight Management Systems (FMS) with Wide Area Augmentation System that supports Localizer Performance with Vertical guidance approaches (WAAS/LPV) and Required Navigation Performance (RNP) capabilities, advanced graphical flight planning capability, and an Information Management System (IMS) to manage databases and facilitate wireless interactivity with the ground infrastructure.
Additionally, Rockwell Collins’ industry leading DF-430 Direction Finder and HF-9000 high frequency radios will bring added capabilities to the Embraer KC-390.
